When did you attend Penn State, and what was your major?

I attended from 1996-2000. My major was Telecommunications

What specific factors led you to attend Penn State?

When I was a junior a few seniors applied to Penn State, including my boyfriend

at the time. He loved it and said I would too. He was right. The relationship didn't last beyond

summer session but choosing Penn State was the best outcome of that entire relationship.

Can you share your most memorable experience during college? 

I remember being humbled by a Gen Ed course, Integrative Arts. My sorority sister

wanted someone to take the class with her so I said why not. How hard could integrative arts be?

VERY HARD. I almost failed that class. I had to go to study sessions and office hours to barely pass

with a C.

Were there any professors, mentors, or courses that had a significant impact on your academic or personal development?

Everyone played a role!

How did your Penn State education prepare you for your career or future endeavors?

Penn State helped establish a solid foundation that has served me well throughout life.

It gave me the opportunity to grow into myself and make mistakes and course correct before

hitting the real world. Learning to pivot when something isn't working for me is probably my

biggest takeaway. 

How has your Penn State network or alumni connections played a role in your professional life?

I appreciate the opportunity to network with other professionals in a variety of careers. 

What advice do you have for current or future Penn State students looking to make the most of their university experience? 

Explore! Explore different majors, interests, careers, organizations. Build relationships.

Be open minded. Then once you find the things that jibe with you... focus on those. Hone in.
